The introduction of the railway in the 1830s drastically reduced delivery times, making it possible to send letters across a country in just a few days. Later, the invention of the telegraph in the 1840s allowed instant communication, but it was expensive and limited to short messages. By the early 20th century, airmail began, further speeding up international correspondence. However, it wasn't until the 1970s that electronic mail, or email, was developed, which eventually revolutionized how we communicate.
