Today we're going to discuss the impact of urban green spaces on mental health. A recent study conducted in Melbourne followed 2,000 residents over five years. Participants who lived within 300 meters of a park or garden reported significantly lower stress levels. Interestingly, the size of the green space mattered less than its accessibility. Even small pocket parks, if well-maintained and safe, had a positive effect. The study also found that people who visited these spaces at least once a week showed better emotional resilience. However, the benefits were less pronounced for those living near busy roads, suggesting that noise pollution could offset some advantages.
