Good morning. Today we're going to discuss the impact of urban green spaces on mental health. A recent study conducted in Melbourne followed over 2,000 residents for five years. Interestingly, the researchers found that people living within 300 meters of a park or garden reported significantly lower levels of stress. However, the effect was stronger for those who actually visited the green space at least once a week, rather than just having it nearby. The study also noted that the type of green space mattered: community gardens had a greater positive impact than large, manicured parks, possibly because they encourage social interaction. So, while proximity is important, regular use and community engagement seem to be key factors.
