Good morning. Today we're going to discuss the impact of urbanization on local wildlife. A recent study conducted in Melbourne observed that urban areas with small parks and gardens still support a surprising variety of bird species, provided there are native plants. However, the research also found that noise pollution from traffic significantly reduces the number of insects, which in turn affects bird populations. Interestingly, the study showed that even small green spaces, if connected by corridors, can help maintain biodiversity. The key factor, though, is the presence of water sources, which attracted the most diverse range of species.
