Good morning. Today we're going to discuss the impact of urban green spaces on mental health. A recent study conducted in Melbourne followed 500 adults over five years. Participants who lived within 300 meters of a park reported 20% lower stress levels. Interestingly, the size of the park mattered less than its accessibility. Even small gardens with benches and trees showed significant benefits. However, the study found that simply having a view of greenery from a window did not reduce stress as much as actually visiting the space. The researchers suggest that physical engagement with nature, such as walking or sitting, is key. So, for city planners, the priority should be creating safe, reachable green areas rather than large but isolated parks.
