Researchers measured the amount of greenery near each participant's home and compared it with their self-reported stress levels. Interestingly, they found that people living within 300 meters of a park or garden reported significantly lower anxiety, but only if the green space was well-maintained with trees and benches. The effect was stronger for older adults and those who visited the space at least once a week. The study also noted that the quality of the green space mattered more than its size.
