Good morning, everyone. Today we're going to discuss the history of the postal service. Many people assume that postal systems were invented in Europe, but in fact, the earliest known courier service dates back to ancient Egypt around 2000 BC. However, it was the Persian Empire that truly revolutionized mail delivery with their famous relay stations, which allowed messages to travel up to 200 kilometers per day. Later, the Romans adopted this idea and built an extensive network, but they used it mainly for military and government purposes. It wasn't until the 16th century that public postal services became common in Europe, thanks to the efforts of the Thurn and Taxis family.
