In today's lecture, we'll discuss how urban green spaces affect mental health. A recent study followed 1,000 adults over five years. Participants who visited parks at least once a week reported 20% lower stress levels compared to those who rarely went. Interestingly, the duration of each visit mattered more than frequency. Even a single 30-minute walk in a park significantly boosted mood, while shorter visits had little effect. The study also noted that the presence of water features, like ponds, amplified the benefits. So, for city planners, designing accessible green areas with water could be key.
