Today in our environmental science lecture, we'll discuss the impact of urban green spaces. Recent studies show that city parks can reduce local temperatures by up to 5 degrees Celsius during summer. However, the key factor is not the size of the park, but its design. For example, parks with a mix of trees and open water are more effective than those with only grass. Also, the location matters: parks near residential areas provide more health benefits to residents. Interestingly, even small community gardens can have a significant cooling effect if they include shaded walkways.
