Good morning, everyone. Today we're going to discuss the history of the postal service. As you might know, the first official postal system was established in ancient Persia around 550 BC. However, it was the Romans who developed a more organized network, which they called the 'cursus publicus'. This system was mainly used for government and military communications. Interestingly, it wasn't until the 19th century that the first adhesive postage stamp, the Penny Black, was introduced in Britain in 1840. This revolutionized mail delivery by making it affordable for ordinary people to send letters.
