Good morning, everyone. Today we're going to discuss the history of the bicycle. The first bicycle, called the 'velocipede', was invented in the early 19th century. It had no pedals; riders pushed it along with their feet. Later, in the 1860s, pedals were added to the front wheel, creating the 'penny-farthing'. However, this design was dangerous because the rider sat very high. It wasn't until the 1880s that the 'safety bicycle' was developed, with two equal-sized wheels and a chain drive, making it much safer and more practical for everyday use.
