Today we're going to discuss the impact of urban green spaces on mental health. A recent study followed 1,000 adults over five years. Participants who lived within 300 meters of a park or garden reported 20% lower stress levels on average. Interestingly, the effect was stronger for those who visited the space at least once a week, not just for those who lived nearby. The study also noted that community gardens had a more significant benefit than ornamental parks, possibly because they encourage social interaction. However, the researchers warned that the findings are correlational, not causal, and more controlled trials are needed.
