Good morning. Today we're going to discuss the history of the bicycle. Now, many people believe the bicycle was invented in the 19th century, but in fact, a simple two-wheeled machine was drawn by Leonardo da Vinci in the 15th century. However, the first practical bicycle, called the 'velocipede', appeared in 1817 in Germany. It had no pedals; riders pushed their feet against the ground. The modern bicycle with pedals and a chain was developed in the 1880s in England, which greatly increased its popularity.
