Now, many people assume that the first postal system was invented in Europe, but in fact, it was the Persian Empire that established an organized courier network around 550 BC. This system used mounted messengers who rode horses along relay stations. However, it was the Romans who later improved this idea by creating a more extensive road network, which allowed letters to travel faster. Interestingly, the first public postal service, where ordinary people could send mail, didn't appear until the 16th century in England. So, the key point here is that the evolution of mail delivery was gradual and influenced by different civilizations.
