Today in our archaeology lecture, we're examining the discovery of a Bronze Age settlement in northern Europe. Excavations revealed circular huts with thatched roofs, and surprisingly, a sophisticated drainage system. Pottery fragments indicated trade with distant regions, as they contained traces of olive oil, which was not native to the area. However, the most significant find was a set of wooden tools, preserved in waterlogged soil, which suggested advanced carpentry techniques. Radiocarbon dating placed the site at around 1500 BCE, earlier than previously assumed for such complex societies in that region.
