Today we're going to discuss the impact of urban green spaces on mental health. A recent study conducted in Melbourne followed 500 adults over five years. Participants who lived within 300 meters of a park reported 20% lower stress levels. Interestingly, the benefit was stronger for those who visited the park at least twice a week. The study also found that the presence of trees, not just grass, was key to reducing anxiety. However, the effect was less noticeable in very large parks, possibly because they are often less accessible by foot. So, proximity and frequency of visits matter more than total park size.
