In today's lecture, we'll discuss the impact of urban green spaces on mental health. A study conducted in Melbourne followed 1,000 residents over five years. Participants who visited parks at least once a week reported 20% lower stress levels compared to those who rarely went. Interestingly, the size of the park mattered less than the frequency of visits. However, the study noted that people living within 300 meters of a green space were more likely to use it regularly. The researchers concluded that even small community gardens can provide significant benefits, especially for office workers who spend most of their day indoors.
