Good morning. Today we're going to discuss the history of the bicycle. The first pedal-powered bicycle, called the velocipede, appeared in the 1860s in France. However, it was heavy and difficult to ride because it had a wooden frame and iron tires. Then, in the 1880s, the 'safety bicycle' was introduced, featuring a chain drive and two equal-sized wheels, which made riding much easier and safer. This design became immensely popular, especially among women, as it allowed them to move freely without needing special clothing. By 1900, the bicycle had become a symbol of personal freedom and a practical means of transport.
