Good morning, everyone. Today we're going to look at the history of the bicycle. Now, many people think the bicycle was invented in the 19th century, but in fact, a simple two-wheeled device appeared in France as early as 1790. However, it had no pedals and was pushed along by the feet. The first machine with pedals was built in Scotland in 1839, but it was very uncomfortable to ride. It wasn't until the 1880s that the 'safety bicycle' with a chain drive and equal-sized wheels became popular, making cycling accessible to a wider range of people, including women.
