Good morning, everyone. Today we're going to discuss the history of the bicycle. You might think it's a simple invention, but its development was quite complex. The first two-wheeled vehicle, called the draisine, was invented in 1817 by a German baron. It had no pedals; riders pushed their feet against the ground to move. Later, in the 1860s, pedals were added to the front wheel, but this design was unstable. Finally, in 1885, the 'safety bicycle' was introduced with a chain drive and equal-sized wheels, making it much safer and more practical for everyday use.
