Today we're discussing the impact of urban green spaces on mental health. A recent study from the University of Cardiff followed 2,000 residents over five years. Participants who visited parks or community gardens at least once a week reported 22% lower levels of stress and anxiety compared to those who didn't. Interestingly, the benefits were strongest for people aged 40 to 60, and the type of green space mattered: woodlands had a greater effect than manicured lawns. The researchers suggest that even a short 15-minute walk in a natural setting can significantly boost mood, but only if the environment is quiet and free from traffic noise.
