In today's lecture, we'll discuss the impact of urban green spaces on mental health. Recent studies have shown that access to parks and gardens can reduce stress levels significantly. However, the benefits are not limited to relaxation. Researchers found that people living near green areas tend to have better concentration and even improved sleep quality. Interestingly, the size of the green space matters less than its proximity to home. A small garden within 200 meters can be more effective than a large park several kilometers away. Therefore, urban planners should prioritize creating small, accessible green pockets in residential neighborhoods rather than focusing solely on large central parks.
