Good morning, class. Today we're going to discuss the impact of urban green spaces on mental health. A recent study conducted in Melbourne followed 2,000 residents over five years. Interestingly, the researchers found that people living within 300 meters of a park reported significantly lower stress levels. However, the benefit was only observed when the green space had trees and natural vegetation, not just mowed grass. The study also noted that the effect was stronger for older adults, especially those over 65, who visited the park at least twice a week. So, while access to any outdoor area is helpful, the quality of the green space matters greatly.
