Good morning, everyone. Today we're going to discuss the history of the postal service. As you know, the modern postal system has its roots in the 19th century, but many people don't realize that the first organized mail delivery actually began in ancient Persia around 550 BC. These early messengers used a relay system with horses and stations placed about a day's ride apart. Interestingly, the service was so efficient that it could carry a message from one end of the empire to the other in just seven days. However, this was reserved for royal use only, and ordinary citizens had no access to it. It wasn't until the 1600s that public postal services started to emerge in Europe.
