Today we're going to discuss the history of the postal service. In the 19th century, mail was delivered by train, which was faster than horse-drawn coaches. However, the introduction of the automobile in the early 20th century brought significant changes. By the 1930s, trucks were used for short-distance deliveries within cities, while trains remained the primary method for long-distance mail. It wasn't until the 1950s that airmail became common for international letters, cutting delivery time from weeks to days. Interestingly, the first regular airmail service actually began in 1918 between Washington, D.C., and New York City.
