Good morning, everyone. Today we're going to discuss the history of the post-it note. As you may know, it was invented by Spencer Silver, a scientist at 3M, in 1968. However, Silver wasn't trying to create a sticky note. He was actually attempting to develop a super-strong adhesive. Instead, he ended up with a low-tack, reusable adhesive that didn't stick firmly. For years, no one found a use for it. Then, in 1974, another 3M employee named Art Fry, who sang in a church choir, came up with the idea. He was frustrated because his bookmarks kept falling out of his hymnal. He realized that Silver's adhesive could be used to keep bookmarks in place without damaging the pages. And that's how the post-it note was born.
