Good morning, class. Today we're discussing the impact of urban green spaces on mental health. A recent study conducted in Melbourne followed 2,000 residents over five years. Participants who lived within 300 meters of a park reported 25% lower stress levels. Interestingly, the benefit was stronger for people over 50, but only when the green space included trees and water features. Open grassy areas without shade had little effect. The researchers also noted that access to community gardens, rather than private yards, showed the most significant improvement in mood for younger adults.
