Good morning, everyone. Today we're going to look at the history of the bicycle. As you know, the first bicycle-like vehicle appeared in the early 19th century, but it had no pedals. Riders pushed their feet along the ground. This was called a 'hobby horse'. Then, in the 1860s, pedals were added to the front wheel, creating the 'velocipede'. However, it was very uncomfortable because of the solid rubber tires. Later, in the 1880s, the 'safety bicycle' was developed with a chain drive and two equal-sized wheels, which made riding much more stable and popular.
