Good morning, everyone. Today we're going to discuss the impact of urban green spaces on mental health. A recent study conducted in Melbourne followed over 2,000 residents for five years. The researchers measured the amount of greenery around each participant's home and compared it with their self-reported stress levels. Interestingly, they found that people living within 300 meters of a park or garden reported significantly lower anxiety, even after controlling for income and age. However, the effect was stronger for older adults, and surprisingly, the presence of water features seemed to reduce the benefit. So, while trees and grass are helpful, the design of the space matters more than its size.
