In today's lecture, we'll discuss the impact of urban green spaces on mental health. A recent study followed 1,000 adults over five years and found that those living within 300 meters of a park reported 22% lower stress levels. Interestingly, the effect was stronger for people over 60, and the presence of water features like ponds or fountains enhanced the benefits. However, the study noted that accessibility was more important than the size of the green area. So, even small pocket parks, if well-maintained and easy to reach, can significantly improve well-being.
