Today in our archaeology lecture, we're discussing the discovery of a Bronze Age settlement in southern England. The site, dated to around 1500 BC, revealed circular houses made of timber and clay. Interestingly, archaeologists found a large central hearth, which suggests communal cooking. However, the most surprising find was a collection of bronze tools, including axes and sickles, buried beneath the floor of one dwelling. This has led experts to believe the inhabitants practiced ritual offerings. The settlement was likely abandoned suddenly due to flooding, as evidence of a thick layer of silt covers the remains.
