Good morning. Today we're going to discuss the history of the bicycle. As you know, the first bicycle, called a velocipede, appeared in the early 19th century. It had no pedals, so riders pushed their feet against the ground to move. Later, in the 1860s, pedals were added to the front wheel, but the ride was very bumpy. Then, in 1885, the 'safety bicycle' was introduced with a chain drive and two equal-sized wheels, making it much more stable and comfortable. This design quickly became popular, and by the 1890s, cycling had become a common leisure activity, especially among women, who found it a new form of freedom.
