Today we're going to discuss the impact of urbanization on local wildlife. Take the example of the red fox in London. Studies show that foxes have adapted to city life by changing their sleeping patterns. Instead of being strictly nocturnal, they now forage during the day when human activity is lower in certain parks. Additionally, their diet has shifted from small mammals to human food waste. However, this adaptation has a downside: foxes in urban areas have a higher risk of traffic accidents and poisoning. Interestingly, their home ranges are smaller than rural foxes, but population density is much higher.
