Good morning, everyone. Today we're going to discuss the history of the postal service. Many people assume that the postal service began in the 19th century with the introduction of the postage stamp, but in fact, organized mail delivery dates back much further. For example, the ancient Persians had a system of mounted couriers, and the Romans had a similar network. However, these early systems were only for official government use. It wasn't until the 16th century that private individuals could send letters in some European countries. The key development came in 1840 in Britain when the first adhesive stamp, the Penny Black, was introduced, which made postage affordable for ordinary people. This revolutionized communication.
