Today in our archaeology lecture, we're discussing the discovery of a Bronze Age settlement in southern England. Excavations revealed circular houses made of wood and clay, with thatched roofs. Interestingly, the site showed evidence of advanced water management, including wooden wells and drainage channels. Pottery fragments suggested trade with continental Europe, as some pieces contained tin, which is not locally sourced. The settlement was abandoned suddenly around 1200 BC, possibly due to flooding, as layers of silt covered the floors. However, no human remains were found, leading researchers to believe the inhabitants evacuated in time.
