Today we're going to discuss the impact of urban green spaces on mental health. A recent study conducted in Melbourne followed 500 residents over five years. Participants who lived within 300 meters of a park reported lower stress levels and better mood. Interestingly, the size of the green space mattered less than its accessibility. Even small pocket parks, if well-maintained and safe, had a positive effect. However, the study found that the benefit was strongest for people over 50. Younger adults showed less improvement, possibly because they tend to use parks for social activities rather than relaxation.
