In today's lecture, we'll discuss the impact of urban green spaces. Recent studies show that parks not only improve air quality but also significantly reduce stress levels among city dwellers. Interestingly, the research found that the size of the green space matters less than its accessibility. A small garden near residential areas can have a greater positive effect than a large distant park. Furthermore, community gardens, where residents actively participate, tend to foster stronger social bonds compared to passive recreational areas. However, the maintenance cost of these spaces is often underestimated by local councils, leading to budget shortfalls.
