In today's lecture, we'll discuss the impact of urban green spaces on mental health. A recent study from the University of Exeter followed 1,000 adults over five years. Participants who moved to areas with more trees and parks reported a 15% reduction in stress levels, even after controlling for income and employment. Interestingly, the effect was strongest for people aged 40 to 60. However, the study also found that simply having a view of greenery from a window had a smaller but still significant benefit, particularly for office workers. The researchers suggest that regular use, such as walking or cycling in these spaces, amplifies the positive effects.
