In today's lecture, we'll discuss the environmental impact of plastic packaging. While many consumers believe paper bags are always better, recent studies show that production of paper bags requires more water and generates more carbon emissions than plastic ones. However, plastic bags take hundreds of years to decompose and often end up in oceans, harming marine life. A more sustainable option is reusable cloth bags, but only if they are used at least 50 times to offset their higher production footprint. So, the key is not the material itself, but how we use it.
