Today we're discussing the impact of urban green spaces on mental health. A recent study followed 1,000 adults over five years. Participants who lived within 300 meters of a park or garden reported 20% lower stress levels and improved mood. Interestingly, the effect was stronger for older adults and those who visited the space at least twice a week. However, the study noted that simply having a balcony with plants did not produce the same benefits. The researchers suggest that access to larger, natural areas encourages physical activity and social interaction, which are key factors.
