The researchers found that people living within 300 meters of a park or garden reported significantly lower levels of stress and anxiety. Interestingly, the benefits were stronger for older adults and those who visited the green spaces at least once a week. However, the study also noted that the quality of the green space mattered more than its size. Small, well-maintained community gardens had a greater positive effect than large, neglected parks. This suggests that city planners should focus on improving accessibility and maintenance rather than just creating larger areas.
