Good morning, everyone. Today, we're going to discuss the history of the bicycle. Now, many people think the bicycle was invented in the 19th century, but its origins go back further. The first two-wheeled, human-powered vehicle, called a draisine, appeared in 1817, invented by a German baron. However, it had no pedals; riders pushed their feet against the ground. It wasn't until the 1860s in France that pedals were added to the front wheel, creating the 'boneshaker.' Later, in the 1880s, the 'safety bicycle' with a chain drive and equal-sized wheels became popular, which is the design we recognize today.
