Today we're going to discuss the impact of urban green spaces on mental health. A recent study conducted in Melbourne followed 1,000 adults over five years. Participants who lived within 300 meters of a park or garden reported a 20% lower level of stress compared to those without nearby green areas. Interestingly, the effect was stronger for people over 50, and the type of green space mattered: tree-lined streets had less benefit than large open parks. The researchers suggest that even small improvements in access could reduce healthcare costs significantly.
