In today's lecture, we'll discuss the impact of urbanization on local wildlife. One key point is that many bird species have adapted to city life by changing their nesting habits. For example, peregrine falcons now nest on skyscrapers instead of cliffs. Another example is the blackbird, which has shifted its song to be higher in pitch to overcome traffic noise. However, not all species are successful. Amphibians, like frogs, are particularly vulnerable because they require both aquatic and terrestrial habitats, which are often fragmented by roads and buildings. This fragmentation leads to population decline. So, while some species show remarkable resilience, others face serious threats.
