Today we're going to discuss the impact of urban green spaces on mental health. A recent study conducted in Melbourne followed 1,000 residents over five years. Participants who lived within 300 meters of a park reported 20% lower stress levels. Interestingly, the size of the green space mattered less than its accessibility. Small community gardens were just as effective as large public parks if they were easy to reach on foot. The study also found that people who visited green spaces at least twice a week showed better mood regulation. However, the effect was weaker for those who only exercised in indoor gyms. So, the key is regular exposure to natural settings, not just exercise itself.
