Good morning, everyone. Today we're going to discuss the history of the bicycle. Now, many people assume the bicycle was invented in Europe, but in fact, the first two-wheeled vehicle was created in China around 200 BC. It was made of wood and had no pedals. However, the modern pedal-driven bicycle appeared in the 1860s in France, invented by Pierre Michaux. Interestingly, the first bicycles were called 'boneshakers' because riding on rough roads was very uncomfortable. It wasn't until the 1880s that the chain drive and pneumatic tires were introduced, making bicycles much smoother and safer.
