Good morning, everyone. Today, I'd like to talk about the history of the bicycle. While many people think the bicycle was invented in the 19th century, its origins actually go back further. In 1817, a German inventor named Karl von Drais created a two-wheeled vehicle called the 'running machine' or 'draisine'. It had no pedals; riders pushed their feet against the ground to move. Later, in the 1860s, pedals were added to the front wheel in France, leading to the 'velocipede'. However, it wasn't until the 1880s that the chain drive and pneumatic tires were introduced, making bicycles safer and more comfortable. This design, known as the 'safety bicycle', became the basis for modern bikes.
